How Connections works
The New York Times Help Center explains that players receive 16 words and must sort them into four groups of four based on a shared connection. Each group has a color: Yellow is the easiest, followed by Green and Blue, while Purple is the trickiest. The challenge comes partly from words that seem to fit more than one possible theme. The Times says its editors curate the words and categories using the Oxford Dictionary. Read the Connections Help Center guide.
