My Happy Marriage has no official “best character” ranking. This list is an editorial ranking of the anime’s first two seasons, weighing character development, impact on the story, emotional connection to its central themes, and presence across that scope. It is not a popularity poll.
Spoiler note: The ranking discusses events from both anime seasons, including Miyo’s Dream-Sight awakening. It does not cover later light-novel developments.

How the ranking is scoped
The official anime site lists characters across season-specific material, so the names below should not be read as a claim that every character appears in both seasons. The focus is the two-season anime story, rather than later light-novel material. The official season-two page describes a 12-episode 2025 TV production and summarizes Miyo’s awakening of Dream-Sight and her role in saving Kiyoka: KADOKAWA Animation Portal’s season-two page. Character names and cast credits are available on the official anime character page.
My Happy Marriage’s 10 best characters, ranked
1. Miyo Saimori
Miyo earns the top spot because the story’s central transformation belongs to her. Neglected by her family and treated as talentless, she begins with little confidence in her own worth. Her relationship with Kiyoka helps her experience care without having to earn it through submission; over time, she grows more able to speak, choose, and act for herself.
#1 Best Overall
Her development is not only emotional. The second season’s official summary identifies her awakening of Dream-Sight and her role in saving Kiyoka, connecting her personal growth to the supernatural stakes. Miyo is the character through whom the series most clearly explores how dignity and agency can be recovered after abuse. Official character details appear on the anime character page.
2. Kiyoka Kudou
Kiyoka is Miyo’s arranged match, a Kudou family head and the leader of a special unit. His cold reputation makes the contrast with his affection for Miyo central to the romance: he offers her patience and respect rather than repeating the cruelty she has known. His place near the top reflects how strongly his choices shape both Miyo’s recovery and the story’s emotional center.
Rank #2
The official profile gives this contrast particular emphasis. Kiyoka matters not simply as a romantic lead, but as someone whose treatment of Miyo gives her room to develop on her own terms. See the official character page for his profile.
3. Kaya Saimori
Kaya belongs high on the list because the Saimori family conflict establishes the conditions Miyo must overcome. Her place in that conflict makes her an important counterpart to Miyo: the sisters’ different treatment helps show how unfairly Miyo has been judged. The official anime roster confirms Kaya as part of the cast, though it does not offer a detailed character analysis; this ranking is based on her narrative function in the anime rather than a claim about popularity. See the official roster.

Yurie provides a gentler presence around the central couple. In a story where Miyo has been conditioned to expect rejection, support from someone outside the immediate romance helps make the possibility of a kinder household feel real. She ranks above several other supporting characters because that welcoming presence connects directly to the series’ themes of care and belonging. Yurie is listed on the official anime character page.
5. Arata Usuba
Arata’s value to the ranking comes from the broader family and supernatural dimensions he brings into the story. His inclusion reflects the anime’s widening scope beyond the arranged marriage, especially as Miyo’s abilities become more consequential. The official roster places him among the named characters; because that roster alone does not establish the full extent of his role, this placement is limited to his importance within the anime’s expanding story rather than later novel material. See the official roster.
Rank #4
6. Kouji Tatsuishi
Kouji is one of the supporting characters tied to the early family conflict. His presence helps show that Miyo’s circumstances are shaped by more than the decisions of a single household member. The official anime page confirms his place in the cast, but does not provide a detailed assessment of his motivations; this ranking treats him as a meaningful supporting figure, not as a character with a fully documented arc in the profile material. See the official character page.
7. Yoshito Godou
Godou adds another perspective to Kiyoka’s world outside the romance. That supporting role helps give the story a wider social and professional setting, keeping the narrative from becoming solely a two-person drama. He ranks here for that contribution to the ensemble. The official site confirms his character and cast listing, while the ranking itself is editorial: official anime roster.
Best Value
8. Takaihito
Takaihito belongs on a list covering both anime seasons because the story’s later scope reaches beyond the couple and their immediate families. His presence signals that wider world and its stakes. This is a season-aware placement, not an assertion that he features throughout the adaptation; the official roster groups characters by season and special, so his appearance should be understood in that context. See the official character page.
9. Kazushi Tatsuishi
Kazushi is a broader-ensemble choice: his place among the listed characters helps represent the family relationships surrounding the central conflict. He ranks below the characters whose connection to Miyo’s development is more direct in this list’s criteria. The official roster establishes his name, but not a detailed arc or a comparative measure of audience approval. See the official anime roster.
10. Miyo’s parents
Miyo’s parents complete the ranking because the family environment they create is part of the story’s foundation. Their relevance is less about the kind of growth that drives Miyo and more about the circumstances that make her later experience of safety and affection so significant. The anime’s official roster includes family characters across its season-specific materials; this entry groups Miyo’s parents rather than suggesting that the site assigns them a shared ranking or that they appear in every season. See the official roster.
