After the six-episode crime thriller Girl Taken, Jill Halfpenny’s pick for a lighter follow-up is the familiar 2011 comedy Bridesmaids. Halfpenny, who plays the twins’ mother, Eve, recommends it for its predictability and fun—not as a clinical prescription, but as a sharp change of tone.
Why Bridesmaids after Girl Taken?
Halfpenny’s suggestion rests on the comfort of knowing what comes next. “Definitely Bridesmaids,” she told TechRadar. “Everyone’s seen Bridesmaids. If you haven’t, why not? Let’s watch something you’ve already seen. It’s familiar. You know what’s going to happen next. There’s no shocks, there’s no terrible moments. It’s just fun. It’s just a comedy, and it’s not real.”

That makes Bridesmaids a tonal counterpoint to Girl Taken, which TechRadar’s Jasmine Valentine described as emotionally distressing. Halfpenny’s recommendation is a casual viewing idea: the interview does not present comedy as treatment or make a claim about mental health.
