Netmarble and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced Game of Thrones: Kingsroad on December 13, 2024, as an officially licensed action-adventure RPG initially planned for mobile in 2025. It later launched on May 21, 2025, with PC distribution also announced. The original reveal and the later release information are separate milestones.
What was announced in December 2024?
Netmarble’s December 13, 2024 announcement introduced Game of Thrones: Kingsroad as a mobile game set in HBO’s Game of Thrones universe. It described a story beginning during season four, with players creating a new character who becomes heir to House Tyre, a small noble house in the North. The character is drawn into political conflict and threats beyond the Wall.
The reveal named three playable classes: Sellsword, Knight, and Assassin. It also said players could customize their character.
When did it come out, and what platforms were announced?
Netmarble’s April 29, 2025 release-date notice set May 21, 2025 as the launch date. On that date, Netmarble said the game was available on mobile and PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Windows Launcher. These are dated launch statements; check the live storefronts for present-day availability in your location.

The original December 2024 reveal focused on mobile. PC storefronts and the May 21 release date were added in later announcements, so they should not be read as part of the initial reveal.
What does the game include?
The May 2025 launch announcement characterized Kingsroad as an action-adventure RPG set in a large open world. The locations it named include King’s Landing, Castle Black, Highgarden, and the Wall. The player’s House Tyre heir navigates political tensions and dangers in Westeros; the announcement’s story premise begins during season four.

Netmarble CEO Young-sig Kwon said in the December 2024 announcement: “We believe Game of Thrones is a world rich with untold stories and adventures, and we’re pleased to bring Westeros to life in an exciting new way for gamers.” This is the company’s stated view of the project, not an independent evaluation.
Where was the game offered at launch?
Netmarble’s May 21, 2025 launch notice named the Americas, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and the Middle East. It said an Asia timing announcement would follow later that year. That launch notice does not establish current access in every region or confirm present storefront status.

What did the launch notices say about access and purchases?
Before launch, Netmarble said Steam players could purchase Founder’s Packs that included Early Access and in-game content. The same April 29 notice said mobile preregistration was available through Apple’s App Store and Google Play. Those were historical launch-period details: the cited announcements do not establish current Founder’s Pack availability, present prices, or a complete account of the game’s monetization.

Netmarble’s announcement notes that HBO’s series is based on George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels, making the books optional source-material reading for fans. They are not game equipment or a prerequisite for playing.

The announcement also described officially licensed HBO merchandise categories including collectibles, apparel, and publishing, and said licensed merchandise was sold through retail stores and the HBO Shop in the United States. Those general statements do not verify any particular item’s current stock or availability.
