Is Netflix raising prices again?
The headline refers to Netflix’s U.S. increase announced on January 21, 2025, in its Q4 2024 earnings letter. Netflix discussed the change alongside a record subscriber quarter and the performance of its recent programming, including Squid Game Season 2.
There is also later U.S. pricing news: Kiplinger reported on March 27, 2026, that Netflix had increased prices across U.S. tiers. The reviewed official materials do not establish the exact amounts and effective dates for that reported change, so treat figures in that report as secondary reporting rather than a verified Netflix price list. Check Netflix’s plan page or your account’s billing details for the price applicable to you.
Did Squid Game 2 make Netflix raise prices?
The available evidence shows an association in timing, not a direct cause. Netflix announced the January 2025 increase during the same earnings cycle in which it highlighted the season’s performance. Its general explanation is that it periodically changes prices to invest in the service and tests different plans and price points to understand consumer demand, as described in its pricing FAQ.

The audience figures show why the series was a notable part of that commercial context:
- On June 23, 2025, Netflix said Season 2 had reached 192.6 million views, making it the third-largest season by views in Netflix history at that point, according to Netflix Tudum.
- On July 1, 2025, Netflix said the first two seasons had accumulated nearly 600 million views ahead of Season 3’s launch, in an About Netflix article.
Those figures establish the franchise’s reach; they do not show that Season 2 by itself prompted the price decision.

Why did my Netflix bill go up?
A bill can change for reasons other than a new general price increase, including a change to the plan or package attached to the account. Compare the amount due with your plan, billing date and payment history before attributing the difference to a company-wide adjustment.
Netflix says it notifies affected members by email and with an in-product message one month before the billing date when a new price takes effect. Its Help Center guidance on price changes also directs members to account payment history to check billing details. If you pay through a partner-billed package, the partner sends the price-change notice.

What Netflix’s latest earnings say about pricing
Netflix’s January 20, 2026, Q4 2025 letter reported $45 billion in 2025 revenue, up 16% for the year. It forecast 12%–14% revenue growth for 2026, citing membership and pricing increases as well as projected advertising growth. That is company guidance, not a realized 2026 result, and it does not identify the cause of any particular price change. The figures and forecast appear in the Q4 2025 earnings letter.
