Game of Thrones: Kingsroad launched on May 21, 2025, for iOS, Android and PC. Netmarble described the release as global, but its launch announcement named the Americas, Europe, Africa, Oceania and the Middle East, with Asia timing still to be announced. The action-adventure RPG introduces a new story set in the world of the HBO series.
When did Game of Thrones: Kingsroad launch?
Netmarble announced that Game of Thrones: Kingsroad was available on May 21, 2025. Its April 29 release-date announcement had previewed that date and said players could preregister through the App Store and Google Play. What platforms is Kingsroad on?
The launch announcement named iOS and Android, plus PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Windows Launcher. Netmarble described the game as an action-adventure RPG officially licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on behalf of HBO.
Where did the initial launch reach?
Netmarble listed the Americas, Europe, Africa, Oceania and the Middle East as launch regions. It said Asian availability timing would be announced later, so “globally” in the announcement should not be read as confirmation of a simultaneous worldwide release.

What is the story of Kingsroad?
The player takes the role of a new character who becomes heir to House Tyre, a small noble house in the North. The launch announcement places the story in the latter half of season four of the HBO drama and offers three class choices: Knight, Sellsword or Assassin.
Before launch, Netmarble said players would explore Westeros and roam locations including King’s Landing, Castle Black, Highgarden and the Wall. That is the publisher’s description of the game’s setting; it does not establish the scale or structure of the playable map. The game is officially licensed, but this story follows a new character rather than simply recasting the player as one of the show’s central characters.

Is Game of Thrones: Kingsroad open world?
Netmarble’s pre-launch description says players can freely roam several Westerosi locations. That supports describing exploration as part of the game, but the cited launch materials do not define the world as one continuous open-world map or provide a measured map size. The publisher’s wording alone does not settle how open-world gameplay works in practice.
What changed in the 2026 Global Content Alignment update?
In a September 14, 2026 announcement, Netmarble described Global Content Alignment as a major redesign covering progression, combat, visuals, the game economy and multiplayer. It said the update would focus on Membership and Battle Pass systems, rebalance combat and growth, and add a Dual Weapon System. The company also said a Season 3 update with a Stormlands storyline would follow. These are announced plans, not a measure of player response or independent evaluation.

Netmarble said players could keep their existing characters on the Western Server or choose the redesigned Global Content Alignment server. It also described rewards based on progression and cumulative purchase history. The two paths therefore matter to existing players deciding whether to stay with their current server or opt into the redesigned experience.
The announced rollout date differs by one day
Netmarble’s September 14 newsroom announcement gives October 13, 2026, as the planned Global Content Alignment date. The official game page, checked October 8, lists the alignment as 2026/10/14. The discrepancy is unresolved in those official listings. The page also lists preregistration from September 22 through October 13 (UTC), and a reward claim period from September 22 through December 31 (UTC).

What Netmarble said about the game
In a company announcement at the game’s reveal, Netmarble CEO Young-sig Kwon said: “We believe Game of Thrones is a world rich with untold stories and adventures, and we’re pleased to bring Westeros to life in an exciting new way for gamers.” This is the publisher’s statement about its project, not an independent assessment.
