Netflix’s version and campus reporting also place the beginning in different years: Netflix says 1984, while The Lamron describes events said to have occurred in 1985.
What the first three episodes of True Haunting cover
Netflix describes True Haunting as a five-episode documentary series told through immersive reenactments and present-day interviews with people who experienced the events. The first three episodes make up the Eerie Hall story; the final two cover a separate story, “This House Murdered Me.” Netflix’s synopsis says Chris Di Cesare began his freshman year at Geneseo College in 1984, where the account unfolds. Netflix Media Center lists Neil Rawles as director of the Eerie Hall segment, James Wan among the executive producers, and RAW (All3Media) and Atomic Monster as production companies. Netflix UK’s title page provides its series description and episode synopses; catalog details can vary by region.
Why the reported dates differ
The Lamron, a Geneseo campus newspaper, describes events said to have taken place at Erie Hall from February to April 1985. Its account involves Di Cesare, friends, and a spirit they called Tommy, and discusses the story as a campus legend. The Lamron’s account therefore does not match Netflix’s synopsis, which places the beginning in 1984 and identifies Di Cesare as a freshman. The sources available here do not resolve the discrepancy, so neither date should be treated as a settled correction of the other.
What is reported, and what is established
The Lamron recounts the story through Di Cesare and other people involved. Netflix presents it with interviews and reenactments. These are accounts of experiences and a documentary’s depiction of them; neither, by itself, independently verifies a supernatural explanation. The consulted sources do not establish what caused the experiences, and no independent institutional, police, medical, or archival record establishing a paranormal cause is identified in them. That distinction leaves room to take participants’ recollections seriously without treating a haunting as proven.

Di Cesare’s memoir
The Lamron reports that Di Cesare published The Ghost Boy of Erie Hall: True Haunting, a companion source for readers who want his account. The newspaper’s report does not establish the book’s current retailer availability or edition, so check a current listing before seeking a copy. A memoir offers its author’s account; it is not independent proof of a ghost.
