Ángela, a Spanish adaptation of the British drama Angela Black, was reported at No. 5 on the U.S. Netflix Top 10 on September 29, 2025, three days after its reported U.S. debut. That is a dated chart position—not evidence of its current ranking or availability. Whether it suits your next binge depends on whether you want a slow-burn thriller that confronts domestic abuse, rather than a fast-paced mystery.
What is Ángela about?
Verónica Sánchez plays Ángela, whose marriage to Gonzalo (Daniel Grao) appears stable from the outside. At home, however, she faces his abusive and controlling behavior. The return of Edu (Jaime Zatarain), an acquaintance from her school days, unsettles her life and brings buried secrets into view.
Norberto López Amado directs the series. Its central tension comes from Ángela’s situation and the secrets around her, not simply from a string of twists.
Why did it reach Netflix’s Top 10?
Tom’s Guide reported that Ángela arrived on Netflix in the U.S. on September 26, 2025, and ranked No. 5 in the U.S. Netflix Top 10 as of September 29, 2025. The report does not give a view count or another audience statistic, and it is editorial reporting rather than a primary Netflix chart record. The ranking should be read as a snapshot from that date, not as a current position. Tom’s Guide’s September 29, 2025 report

What kind of binge is it?
Tom’s Guide describes the show as a slow-burn, tension-filled thriller and reports that it has six episodes, making it a limited series. Expect suspense to build over the course of the story rather than a relentlessly fast pace. The six-episode format gives the story a finite run, but the reported episode count alone does not establish episode length or total viewing time. Tom’s Guide
Is it an intense watch?
Domestic abuse and coercive control are central to the premise, so the suspense is tied to distressing subject matter. Tom’s Guide cites Karina Adelgaard’s review on Heaven of Horror, which says: “As a thriller series that included a storyline featuring abuse, it does get very uncomfortable and scary at times.” If you prefer to avoid stories involving abuse, that content may make this a difficult choice.

Consider Ángela if you want a contained, six-episode psychological thriller with a slow-building pace and are comfortable with a story centered on abuse and control. It is less suited to viewers looking for light viewing or rapid-fire action. The reported U.S. launch and chart position are historical; Netflix’s current catalog and availability may vary by region, so check your local Netflix listing before starting.
