Ace in the live-action series’ third season. The season, titled ONE PIECE: THE BATTLE OF ALABASTA, has wrapped production and is set to arrive in 2027; Netflix has not announced an exact premiere date.
Who is playing Portgas D. Ace?
Netflix’s Season 3 cast listing names Xolo Maridueña as Portgas D. Ace. The official ONE PIECE English channel also published a casting announcement identifying Maridueña as Ace. Maridueña is known for Cobra Kai.
What is Season 3 about?
The season’s official title is ONE PIECE: THE BATTLE OF ALABASTA. Netflix describes a brewing rebellion in Vivi’s homeland, secretly fueled by Sir Crocodile and Baroque Works. That conflict places Ace’s casting within the Alabasta story, rather than announcing a separate Ace-focused project. Netflix’s season announcement gives the story setup.
When will the season be released?
Netflix says production has wrapped and that new episodes will arrive in 2027. The official announcements reviewed do not give an exact premiere date, so a specific day or month is not confirmed. See the cast and status update and season announcement.

Who is leading the season?
Netflix identifies Joe Tracz and Ian Stokes as Season 3 co-showrunners. They described the season as a war story with epic and emotional elements, saying: “Season Three builds on everything we’ve done before to tell a war story that’s epic and emotional, spectacular and surprising. We can’t wait for fans to join us in Alabasta, where the stakes are high… and the ducks are big.” Netflix’s announcement carries their statement.
How does the live-action series relate to the manga?
The live-action series is based on Eiichiro Oda’s manga. Netflix said in 2026 that more than 100 volumes and 600 million copies had been published worldwide. Those are franchise-wide figures from Netflix, not statistics about Ace, the live-action series’ audience, or Season 3. Netflix’s franchise announcement provides that context.
