Public reporting offers a few glimpses of Jesse’s touring and Micah’s photography, but little reliable detail about the adult lives of Marjorie and Elyn.
Who are Neil Diamond’s four children?
Diamond identified his four children and their mothers in a 2014 interview with the Irish Independent. The names are also reported in a 2011 Independent profile and in Universal Music France’s biography of the singer.
| Child | Relationship | Publicly reported detail |
|---|---|---|
| Marjorie | Daughter of Neil Diamond and Jaye Posner | The sources reviewed establish her place in the family but do not provide a well-supported account of her adult life or occupation. |
| Elyn | Daughter of Neil Diamond and Jaye Posner | The sources reviewed do not establish a well-supported adult occupation or current personal details. |
| Jesse | Son of Neil Diamond and Marcia Murphey | A 1992 Washington Post profile reported that he toured with his father, playing guitar and percussion. |
| Micah | Son of Neil Diamond and Marcia Murphey | In a 2020 Forbes interview, Diamond said Micah was a photographer who documented London recording sessions for Classic Diamonds. |
What is known about Jesse and Micah?
Jesse toured with his father
The Washington Post reported in 1992 that Jesse, then described as Diamond’s youngest son, was touring with him on guitar and percussion. That account documents a specific period; it does not establish Jesse’s current career.
Micah photographed recording sessions
Speaking to Forbes in 2020 about Classic Diamonds, Diamond described Micah as a talented photographer and said he documented the album’s London sessions. Diamond added that Jesse also took some photographs. These comments establish their contributions to that project, not a complete account of either son’s work.

What has Diamond said about family life?
In a 2011 profile, The Independent described Diamond’s first marriage to Jaye Posner as ending in divorce in 1969 after periods apart while he worked. The profile reported that he married Marcia Murphey later that year and that Jesse was born the following year. Diamond told the interviewer that he had paused touring for a time to be at home with his younger children, traveled east to see his daughters, and later tried to be home for the children’s birthdays while touring.
In a 2014 interview with the Irish Independent, Diamond spoke warmly of having “four beautiful children.” The phrase was part of a longer sentence, and the interview provides a personal reflection rather than an update on the children’s present lives.

What remains unclear about Marjorie and Elyn?
The sources reviewed confirm that Marjorie and Elyn are Diamond’s daughters with Jaye Posner, but they do not support a detailed, current biography of either woman. A People family feature syndicated by Yahoo attributes the phrase “Beautiful Noise” to Marjorie; because that anecdote is available here only through secondary material, it should be treated as an attributed story, not independently confirmed fact. Sparse public reporting is not evidence that either daughter lacks a career or interests; it simply limits what can be stated reliably.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How do sources spell the family names?
Spellings vary across accounts: the 2011 Independent profile uses “Jayne Posner” and “Marcia Murphy,” while the 2014 Irish Independent interview and Universal Music France use “Jaye Posner” and “Marcia Murphey.” This article uses the latter spellings for the family relationships, while identifying each historical source by name when describing its account.
