My Chemical Romance paid tribute to former drummer Bob Bryar after his death at 44, calling him “an important part of the history of My Chemical Romance” and sending condolences to his friends and family. The band first asked for patience as it processed the news; its later tribute did not give details about how he died.
What did My Chemical Romance say about Bob Bryar?
In a statement reported by the Los Angeles Times on December 2, 2024, the band said: “It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Bob Bryar, our former bandmate and an important part of the history of My Chemical Romance.”
It added: “We send our deepest condolences to his friends and family at this time. May he rest in peace.” The statement was attributed to the band; the report did not name an individual speaker.

The tribute followed an earlier message from a band spokesperson.
