This is the archived NYT Connections puzzle for Monday, September 29, 2025—not the current daily puzzle. Try the four graduated clues below before opening the answer key.

Hints for Connections #841

Read these in order; each clue points toward one group, from least to most direct.

  1. I see London, I see France.

  2. Is it April 1?

  3. Flush!

  4. Rock out.

The clues point, respectively, to underwear, playing a joke, toilet-tank parts, and the opening words of classic-rock song titles. The 16-word grid was FLAPPER, PUNK, HOTEL, STAIRWAY, BOHEMIAN, FLOAT, HANDLE, HIPSTER, BOXER, FOOL, CHAIN, TRICK, BABA, BRIEF, PRANK, and THONG. Parade’s September 29 guide and TechRadar’s guide to game #841 report the same groups.

How Connections works

Connections presents 16 words to sort into four groups of four, with each group sharing a connection. TechRadar’s guide says players can make up to four mistakes and identifies the NYT Games site as a place to play. All Things How’s guide to #841 also describes the 16-word, four-group format.
