According to her castmates, Phoebe-Rae Taylor’s openness, humor and presence helped make Out of My Mind a better experience—and, in Courtney Taylor’s words, made her “a better actress.” That is a collaborator’s account of working together, not a measured claim about changes in anyone’s acting ability.
What Courtney Taylor said about working with Phoebe-Rae Taylor
At the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, Collider interviewer Perri Nemiroff spoke with the cast and director of Out of My Mind. In the published transcript, Courtney Taylor described the effect of working with newcomer Phoebe-Rae Taylor this way: “It kind of made me be a better actress just to make sure that I was there for her whenever she was down, and she was there for me whenever I was down, so it was perfect.” (Filmibee’s transcript of the interview.)
The key to Courtney Taylor’s comment is its emphasis on mutual support. She connects her own growth to being there for a scene partner who was learning, and to receiving that support in return. The interview’s framing is therefore less a claim that Taylor transformed her co-stars’ technique than a description of the collaboration they experienced.
What the other cast members valued in Taylor
Other participants in the same interview described qualities that helped shape their work together. Their remarks are individual impressions, not a consensus measurement or an assessment of every performer on the film.

Taylor’s first acting experience
Taylor offered her own perspective in the interview. She said she was nervous because she was “not a very confident person” and this was her first acting experience. Meeting the cast helped: “as soon as I met all of these lovely people it all got easier and less nerve-wracking because these people are so genuine and nice.”
Her account gives context to Courtney Taylor’s description of mutual support: the cast was working with a newcomer who said she felt nervous at first, while Taylor described the people around her as genuine and welcoming.
