Yes. Mike Verdu left Netflix in February 2025, according to a report by Variety dated March 12, 2025. The report gives the month, but not an exact day, and does not state why he left. His earlier move from leading Netflix Games to a generative-AI role was an internal transition—not his departure from the company.
Did Mike Verdu leave Netflix?
Yes. Variety reported that Verdu left Netflix in February 2025. The account appears in a Movistar Plus media-monitoring PDF reproducing a story attributed to Jennifer Maas and dated March 12, 2025: the March 12, 2025 media report. It gives no exact departure date.

The available report also does not give a reason for his exit. It describes Verdu as Netflix’s first head of its games division and says he later moved into a generative-AI role before leaving the company.
Was his GenAI for Games role the same as leaving Netflix?
No. Verdu announced the move to VP, GenAI for Games in November 2024 while still at Netflix. In a first-person post, he characterized the leadership handoff as planned, writing: “What you’ve seen over the last several months was actually a planned transition.” He was describing the internal changes and the handoff of Netflix Games leadership, not explaining a later departure from Netflix.

Verdu said he handed leadership of Netflix Games to Alain Tascan because, in his view, the division had reached a scale that called for a new leader. He wrote: “When Netflix Games hit scale, I knew the time had come to hand off to someone who can take this enterprise to the next level.” Verdu’s November 2024 post is first-person evidence of his explanation for the handoff—not evidence of his reason for leaving months later.

What Verdu said about Netflix Games
In his November 2024 post, Verdu said Netflix Games had delivered more than 100 games and had tested cloud streaming on TV and PC in several countries. These are his claims, not independently verified figures in the cited material. He also described engagement as increasing “by multiples,” but gave no baseline, specific multiplier, or measurement period, so that wording cannot establish a precise growth figure.
