What did Netflix reportedly consider buying?
Bloomberg reporting, as summarized by Insider Gaming and GameSpot, named EA, Fox and Disney among the major assets Netflix management debated pursuing. The accounts describe possible targets discussed internally, not a public bid or completed transaction.
Did Netflix try to buy EA or Disney?
The summaries do not establish that Netflix made an offer for EA, Disney or Fox. They characterize the matter as a debate among executives and say no consensus formed around a deal. So “considered” or “debated” is supported; saying Netflix tried to buy any of the companies would go beyond what these reports establish.
GameSpot says Bloomberg’s report did not specify when Netflix considered the acquisitions. The December 8, 2025 publication date is the date of the reporting summaries, not a stated date for the internal discussions.

How does the separate Disney–EA report fit in?
This is distinct from a 2023 report about Disney’s own gaming strategy. On October 11, 2023, GameSpot reported that some Disney executives urged CEO Bob Iger to consider a “bolder transformation,” with acquiring EA raised as an example. Iger was described as noncommittal. That report concerned internal advocacy at Disney; it does not establish that Disney made an offer for EA. GameSpot’s 2023 report does not turn the later Netflix discussions into a Disney–EA transaction.
What is known about EA’s business context?
EA’s fiscal 2023 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission describes live services and additional content as significant to its business, and discusses competition and consolidation in interactive entertainment. That helps explain why a major games publisher can be strategically important in the industry; it does not show why Netflix discussed EA or establish Netflix’s acquisition rationale. EA’s SEC-filed fiscal 2023 report is company-reported business context, not evidence of a Netflix offer.
