Games relaunched the free-to-play platform fighter on May 28, 2024. But it is no longer an active online game. Season 5 ended on May 30, 2025, after which online play and new downloads ended. Offline play remains possible only for players who downloaded the latest version and logged in during Season 5 before the cutoff.
When did MultiVersus return?
Warner Bros. Games officially launched MultiVersus on May 28, 2024, as a free-to-play platform fighter. The supported launch platforms were PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. The launch announcement also confirmed cross-play and cross-progression. Warner Bros. Games’ launch announcement describes the relaunch and its platforms.
Can you still play MultiVersus online or download it?
No. WB Games designated Season 5 as the final season and content update; it ran through May 30, 2025. After the season ended, the publisher ended online play and new downloads through the named storefronts. That means the 2024 return was a real relaunch, but it did not continue as an online service. The publisher’s Season 5 FAQ states the shutdown terms.
Storefront listings can vary by region. For example, the PlayStation India game page currently says “Not available for purchase”; that regional listing does not establish availability status for every other region or platform. Check the PlayStation India listing for its current status.
Who can still play MultiVersus offline?
Offline access is limited to players who downloaded the latest version of the game and logged in during Season 5 before May 30, 2025. Players who met those conditions can continue playing offline. WB Games said offline access would be available “for the foreseeable future,” which is not a promise of permanent availability.
The publisher said players seeking offline access on more than one supported platform had to complete the download-and-login process on each platform. Having played on one platform does not, by itself, establish offline access on another.

What kind of game was MultiVersus?
MultiVersus was a crossover platform fighter built around Warner Bros. Discovery characters and franchises. PlayStation’s game description highlights 2v2 matches, as well as 1v1 and four-player free-for-all modes, training, ranked competition, online and local play, and character-specific abilities with customizable perk loadouts.
The 2024 launch announcement said the official launch added the PvE mode Rifts alongside competitive PvP. It named characters including The Joker, Jason Voorhees, Banana Guard, and later-season addition Agent Smith; those are examples from the announcement, not a complete roster.
