Mountain Dew’s documented World of Warcraft tie-ins were part of a 2024 promotion, not a newly confirmed 2026 launch. The retail announcement featured World of Warcraft-branded Game Fuel Citrus Cherry and Citrus Blackberry, alongside Doritos XXL bags tied to The War Within. Separately, Mountain Dew and World of Warcraft ran a Discord Quest offering an exclusive in-game item.
What was included in the 2024 retail promotion?
In an announcement published October 25, 2024, Xbox Wire said limited-time Game Fuel flavors with World of Warcraft branding would begin reaching U.S. shelves on November 4, 2024. The announced formats included 20-ounce bottles and 12-packs for each flavor.
| Product | Flavor or variety | Announced packaging or timing |
|---|---|---|
| Mountain Dew Game Fuel | Citrus Cherry | World of Warcraft-branded 20-ounce bottles and 12-packs; limited-time U.S. release scheduled to begin November 4, 2024. |
| Mountain Dew Game Fuel | Citrus Blackberry | World of Warcraft-branded 20-ounce bottles and 12-packs; limited-time U.S. release scheduled to begin November 4, 2024. |
| Doritos XXL | Cool Ranch and Tangy BBQ among the announced varieties | Bags featuring World of Warcraft: The War Within; the announcement did not specify a matching shelf date for these varieties. |
The Xbox Wire announcement also described a wider promotion involving Rockstar Energy Drink and rewards for several Xbox games. Its October 25, 2024 announcement provides the product and promotion details. These are historical launch details, not confirmation that the branded packages are still being sold.
What was the separate Discord Quest?
Discord’s case study describes a Mountain Dew and World of Warcraft Quest, a digital campaign in which an exclusive in-game item served as the player incentive. It was a distinct activation from the retail packaging promotion; the available descriptions do not establish that the Quest and the 2024 shelf launch were one campaign or launched at the same time.

The cited sources do not verify current stock, present-day product listings, or whether the limited-time packaging remains available. If you are looking for a bottle or bag, check current retailer listings and inspect the product packaging; a listing for the regular flavor or snack does not by itself confirm the World of Warcraft edition. The 2024 announcement establishes what was planned then, not what is on shelves now.
