Molly-Mae Hague’s first public response after she and Tommy Fury announced their separation was a brief Instagram post on 27 August 2024. She thanked followers for being “the best online friends” she could have wished for. Her fuller comments came three days later, in a YouTube vlog, where she said the breakup was real and declined to explain its cause publicly.
When did Molly-Mae break her silence?
Hague and Fury announced their separation in separate social-media statements on 14 August 2024, after five years together. Hague said she was extremely upset and that their daughter, Bambi, would always be her priority. Fury described himself as heartbroken and also said their daughter came first. They had met on the 2019 series of ITV’s Love Island, where they finished as runners-up, and became engaged in July 2023.
Hague’s first post after the announcement appeared on Instagram on 27 August. It was a thank-you to followers, rather than an explanation of the separation. The Independent reported the post and the original announcements.
What did she say in the Instagram post?
Hague shared a photo with the caption: “Thank you for being the best online friends I could’ve ever wished for.” The short message acknowledged the support she had received; it did not address why the relationship ended.

What did she say in her YouTube vlog?
On 30 August, Hague posted a vlog with more detail about how she was approaching the breakup publicly. She said she did not intend to discuss the reasons and did not want to fuel speculation. She also rejected the idea that the split was staged: “This is real life.”
She elaborated: “It is not drama, it is not tea, it is not a publicity stunt – as much as I wish it was – this is real life and it’s very sad, and it’s very deep.” Speaking about Fury, she said: “He is Bambi’s dad and I will always value him and respect him, and obviously always have a lot of love for him.” ITV News Granada and Sky News reported on the vlog.
Did Molly-Mae explain why they split?
No reason for the breakup was disclosed in Hague’s August posts or vlog. She explicitly said she did not want to discuss it publicly. Social-media speculation is not an established explanation, and should not be treated as fact.

In a British Vogue interview published on 15 November 2024, Hague described the circumstances as “a bit of a shock” and said she had wanted to marry Fury. She also said that only she and Fury knew what had happened and that they wanted to keep it private for Bambi. Those remarks came months after her first response, not as part of the August posts. British Vogue published the interview.
