Dominique Elissa moved her wedding to Prince of Wales Private Hospital in Sydney because her mother’s health had declined and she could not leave the hospital. Elissa said her mother had long dreamed of walking her down the aisle, so she and Tom Bull held the ceremony where her mother could be present.
Why did Dominique Elissa get married in a hospital?
Elissa said the couple had planned to marry at another venue, but the day before the wedding they were told they could not take her mother out of hospital because her condition had declined. In an Instagram story quoted by PerthNow, she explained the change: “We planned to get married in less than two weeks with a venue in mind, however, the day before we were told we couldn’t leave the hospital with mum’s condition.”
Elissa described her mother’s wish as central to the decision. “My mums dream since I was born was to walk me down the aisle and we did everything to make it happen, even if it meant getting married at the hospital,” she wrote, according to PerthNow. The setting mattered less to her than being together: “The setting wasn’t important, what mattered was who we were with,” she said in a post quoted by People via Yahoo.
When and where was the wedding?
Elissa and Bull married at Prince of Wales Private Hospital in Sydney on March 6, 2025, People reported via Yahoo. Their engagement had taken place on February 15, 2025. PerthNow’s March 8 report described the ceremony as less than two weeks after their engagement.

Elissa also wrote that her mother’s spirit inspired her and that being there together felt right, in words quoted by PerthNow: “Mum’s spirit inspires me everyday and it felt so right to be there altogether.”
What happened after the hospital ceremony?
Elissa’s mother died on March 18, 2025, less than two weeks after attending the wedding, Nine later reported. That is later context for the timing of the ceremony; it does not change the reason Elissa gave for moving it to the hospital.

The couple also had a later celebration in Sicily, according to Grace Loves Lace. The Sicily celebration was separate from the hospital wedding, rather than the location of the ceremony attended by Elissa’s mother.
