No specific “leaked” prop image is authenticated by the available evidence. Production sources do confirm that A Minecraft Movie used physical props and built sets, including cubic apples, tools, textured dirt blocks and Steve’s stash room. Those documented details show what the filmmakers made; they do not prove that any particular image circulating online came from the set.
Are the alleged Minecraft movie prop leaks real?
That has not been established. A social post claiming to show props could not be independently verified, and no cited official source identifies a leak, confirms a leak date or authenticates a particular image. Treat an image presented as a set leak as unverified unless it can be traced to a reliable production source.
There is a clear distinction between documented production props and a leaked photograph: the New Zealand Film Commission confirms that the crew built specific objects and sets, but that confirmation does not establish the provenance of an online image.
What physical props and sets did the production make?
The New Zealand Film Commission reports that the production built Steve’s stash room, cubic apples, tools and textured dirt blocks. Production designer Grant Major worked with set decorator Amber Richards and prop master Matt Cornelius on the design.

The goal was to retain Minecraft’s recognizable cubic forms while making the environments, props and costumes work at cinematic scale and in close-up performances. These are confirmed production details, not an inventory of items shown in an alleged leak.
How did the film balance Minecraft’s blocky look with live action?
Major described the design challenge as following the game’s visual rules while connecting practical, physical environments with digital elements. As he put it: “It was very important for us to obey the rules of Minecraft. At the same time, the story has real people in it, so there’s a physical world and digital world crossover that I had to navigate.”

- DURABLE AND LONG-LASTING: Designed to withstand rough play, these magnetic Action figures for kids ages 4-8 are shock-resistant and scratch-proof. The thickened plastic casing resists cracking, while the magnets maintain their strength even after years of use. Unlike flimsy alternatives, this set won't easily break or lose its magnetic properties. Suitable for 3+ year old boys, these magnetic blocks are perfect for toddlers and older children alike, ideal for classroom learning and parent-child bonding.
That distinction matters when interpreting production images: a physical object made for a scene is only one part of a film world that also uses digital work. The confirmed details do not establish which specific objects in any circulating picture are practical, digitally created or altered for the finished film.
Where was A Minecraft Movie filmed?
The production was shot entirely in Aotearoa New Zealand, across Auckland and Waikato. The New Zealand Film Commission says Huntly’s streets and power station doubled for Chuglass, Idaho, and a potato chip factory. Helensville provided the setting for Garrett’s “Game Over” arcade and mobile petting zoo.

What to look for when evaluating a purported set photo
- Check the source. A post’s claim that an image shows a production prop is not itself authentication.
- Separate confirmation from provenance. Official reporting confirms that some practical props and sets were built, but does not verify a particular photograph.
- Compare only with documented details. The confirmed examples include cubic apples, tools, textured dirt blocks and Steve’s stash room; resemblance alone does not prove an image was taken on set.
- Allow for the physical-digital mix. A finished scene may combine practical builds with digital elements, so an image cannot by itself establish how an object appears in the final film.
