Why Cyrus called the honor “a dream”
In a social-media statement reproduced by Just Jared on May 7, 2026, Cyrus connected the recognition to her childhood after moving from Nashville to Los Angeles. She remembered staying with her family at a Hollywood Boulevard hotel and taking late-night walks with her father, when passersby did not recognize him. They would browse the gift shops and buy imitation Oscars and Marilyn Monroe merchandise.

“To now be cemented on this legendary boulevard, surrounded by the icons who inspired me, feels like a dream,” Cyrus wrote. She thanked the people who helped make the moment possible and said she was grateful to share the star with them. Her recollection gives the phrase a personal meaning: the boulevard she once explored as a child became the place where her own name was honored.
How Cyrus was selected
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced Cyrus as a Class of 2026 Recording honoree on July 2, 2025. The class included 35 people across five categories. The Chamber said its Walk of Fame Selection Panel chose honorees from hundreds of nominations, with the board ratifying the selections; it did not publish an exact nomination total. Ceremony dates are generally announced about ten days before a dedication, so the initial class announcement did not include Cyrus’s ceremony date.
