Why isn’t “Rushmere” track one?
“First song” refers to the album’s first preview, not the first position in its final track list. The album begins with “Malibu” and “Caroline”; “Rushmere” is track three, as shown in the official store track list.
What’s on the album?
RUSHMERE has 10 songs and a 34-minute runtime — Apple Music, 2025. The official store credits Dave Cobb and Mumford & Sons as co-producers.
#1 Best Overall
The title connects to the band’s early history. Universal Music Norge says Rushmere pond on Wimbledon Common was where Marcus Mumford, Ben Lovett and Ted Dwane first spent time together and came up with the idea of starting a band. Apple Music describes their early connection differently, referring to a pub in southwest London where they first got to know one another; the accounts should not be treated as identifying one precise shared location.
The Associated Press characterized the record as a return to the group’s folk heritage and reported that it was recorded in Nashville, Savannah and at Mumford’s studio in Devon. In comments reported by MusicRadar, Marcus Mumford said the band waited for the right music and felt urgency when it arrived.
