How many people attended?
Contemporaneous reports gave different crowd estimates, and the sources do not explain the discrepancy. Madison Commons estimated roughly 10,000 people in the hall and said several hundred supporters were turned away. The Wisconsin Examiner reported more than 13,000 attendees. These are separate published estimates, not a reconciled or confirmed official total.
