En una entrevista publicada por People en Español y actualizada el 18 de febrero de 2025, Aiken relató que quería operarse la nariz desde los 14 años y que acudió a su primera consulta a los 18. Según el reportaje, ahorró durante diez años para la intervención.
Aiken vinculó su deseo de operarse con inseguridades y burlas que vivió durante su niñez. También aclaró que no se consideraba fea: “Yo pensaba que era una chica bonita, no pensaba que era fea”. Explicó que lo que le molestaba era su nariz: “Solo pensaba que tenía una nariz enorme que odiaba”. Qué conviene hablar con un cirujano antes de una rinoplastia
Una consulta debería abordar tanto los objetivos estéticos como la respiración. La Sociedad Estadounidense de Cirujanos Plásticos (ASPS) recomienda conversar sobre antecedentes médicos, opciones disponibles, resultados probables y riesgos. También sugiere preguntar por la certificación y formación del profesional, sus privilegios hospitalarios, la acreditación del centro, la técnica recomendada, la recuperación y cómo se manejarían posibles complicaciones.
La experiencia de Aiken no permite inferir qué técnica recibió ni cuál sería adecuada para otra persona. La recomendación debe responder a los objetivos y circunstancias médicas de cada paciente.

Riesgos y recuperación: lo que puede variar
La ASPS enumera entre los riesgos generales de la rinoplastia las complicaciones de la anestesia, infección, cambios en la sensibilidad, dificultad respiratoria, problemas de cicatrización, hinchazón y la posibilidad de necesitar una cirugía de revisión. Son riesgos posibles del procedimiento, no complicaciones que el reportaje atribuya a Aiken. Las preguntas sobre riesgos individuales deben plantearse al cirujano.
Según la ASPS, la hinchazón inicial suele reducirse en unas semanas, pero el contorno puede tardar hasta un año en definirse por completo.
