Odalis Santos Mena, influencer y fisicoculturista mexicana, murió en Guadalajara el 6 de julio de 2021 mientras la preparaban para un tratamiento contra la sudoración excesiva de las axilas. La Fiscalía de Jalisco atribuyó la causa de muerte a una reacción anafiláctica asociada con anestésicos locales; esa conclusión médica no determinó por sí sola que hubiera negligencia.
Qué tratamiento iba a recibir Odalis Santos
Santos acudió a la clínica Skin Piel para recibir MiraDry, un tratamiento contra la sudoración axilar excesiva. Según La Jornada, murió durante la preparación, antes de que se realizara el tratamiento anunciado. La cobertura describió la aplicación de anestesia local en cada axila como parte de esa preparación.
Qué dijo la Fiscalía sobre la causa de muerte
El 15 de julio de 2021, El Financiero informó que la Fiscalía de Jalisco atribuyó la muerte a una reacción anafiláctica vinculada con anestésicos locales hallados en el cuerpo: lidocaína y bupivacaína. La información se basó en resultados histopatológicos y toxicológicos, según el funcionario citado por el medio. El reporte de El Financiero precisó que ese dictamen sobre la causa médica no bastaba para establecer si hubo negligencia.
Qué se informó sobre la clínica y la investigación
Las primeras versiones públicas no resolvían la responsabilidad por lo ocurrido. La clínica sostuvo que Santos había dicho que no consumía sustancias, medicamentos ni suplementos; sus familiares cuestionaron la atención y la preparación para emergencias, según People en Español. Esas afirmaciones fueron reportadas como versiones enfrentadas, no como conclusiones probadas.

El 8 de julio, cuando todavía se esperaban resultados de la necropsia, La Jornada informó que la Fiscalía investigaba una posible negligencia. En agosto, El Financiero reportó que la carpeta se había judicializado por probable homicidio culposo y responsabilidad médica, y que la familia y el personal de la clínica alcanzaron un acuerdo reparatorio, según el director de Investigación Especializada de la Fiscalía. La nota del 24 de agosto no acredita una condena ni una resolución judicial final.
