El hijo de seis años de la actriz Mariana Derderián murió en un incendio ocurrido durante la madrugada del miércoles 8 de mayo de 2024 en una vivienda de Vitacura, en la Región Metropolitana. Los primeros reportes indicaron que Derderián y una de sus hijas lograron salir de la casa. La causa del fuego no quedó establecida en las declaraciones iniciales: el fiscal a cargo describió una hipótesis preliminar que involucraba una estufa oleoeléctrica y materiales cercanos.
Qué ocurrió en la vivienda de Vitacura
El fuego se produjo durante la madrugada del 8 de mayo. Los primeros reportes situaron el inicio aproximadamente entre las 2:00 y las 2:30, aunque esa franja varió entre las publicaciones y no debe tomarse como una hora definitiva. Según antecedentes de Carabineros recogidos por BioBioChile, Mariana Derderián y una de sus hijas pudieron evacuar; su hijo quedó dentro de la vivienda y falleció.

Qué dijo Bomberos sobre el rescate
El capitán Rodrigo Cornejo, de la 18.ª Compañía del Cuerpo de Bomberos de Santiago, explicó que los equipos no consiguieron llegar hasta el niño. En la transcripción publicada por BioBioChile, señaló: “A la llegada de Bomberos fue imposible (…) poder acceder hasta el menor de edad y hacer la maniobra de rescate respectiva”.
Cuál era la hipótesis inicial sobre el origen del fuego
El fiscal Ricardo Jara, de la Fiscalía Oriente, informó que la hipótesis preliminar apuntaba a una fuente de calor relacionada con una estufa oleoeléctrica, situada cerca de posibles materiales combustibles como ropa o telas. Jara la presentó como una posibilidad basada en lo informado entonces por Bomberos y Labocar, no como una causa confirmada.

El fiscal también dijo que no se descartaba una falla eléctrica en el alargador conectado al artefacto. La cobertura de Cooperativa recoge esas declaraciones iniciales. Por tanto, la referencia a la estufa, las telas o el alargador describe líneas consideradas en ese momento, no una determinación definitiva del origen.
Qué diligencias se anunciaron
La Fiscalía Oriente solicitó diligencias de personal especializado de Labocar y OS9 de Carabineros para investigar el origen del incendio. Bomberos informó que su Departamento de Investigación de Incendios también realizaría pesquisas. Cornejo indicó que ese departamento estaba a cargo de “hacer las pesquisas necesarias para determinar el origen y la causa del fuego”.
