Morrissey signed with Sire Records in a collaboration with Warner Records, announced January 9, 2026. The signing came with news of his album Make-up Is a Lie, which was released through Sire/Warner on March 6, 2026.
What Morrissey’s Sire signing means
Warner Records announced that Morrissey had returned to its family “in collaboration with Sire Records.” The January 9 announcement made the label relationship public and accompanied the release of the album’s title-track single. Warner described the album as his return to Sire.
The announcement confirms the public-facing label arrangement, but not its private terms. Warner and Morrissey Central have not disclosed the contract’s duration, financial terms, ownership arrangements, or other deal details in the cited announcements.
How the signing connects to Make-up Is a Lie
The new relationship was tied to a specific release: Warner announced on January 9 that Make-up Is a Lie would arrive March 6. The album was released on that date through Sire/Warner. Warner calls it Morrissey’s fourteenth solo studio album and his first Sire/Warner album in 30 years.
