The first official teaser for A Minecraft Movie introduces Jack Black as Steve, Jason Momoa as Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison, and a group of four misfits who find themselves in Minecraft’s blocky Overworld. The live-action adaptation is directed by Jared Hess and also features Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, Sebastian Eugene Hansen, and Jennifer Coolidge.
What the first official trailer shows
The teaser sets up a portal-fantasy premise: four misfits are pulled into the Overworld, a strange, block-built wonderland drawn from the Minecraft game. There, survival depends on understanding the new world and its rules. The announcement establishes the setting and central setup, rather than detailing every character’s role or the full plot.
Minecraft described the film as a live-action adaptation of the game. That framing means the familiar blocky world is presented through live-action performances and environments.
