Hundreds of Metallica fans reportedly queued at a temporary merchandise shop in Perth’s Murray Street Mall on Friday, 31 October 2025, the day before the band played Optus Stadium. PerthNow reported that the line began forming as early as 5 a.m., stretched close to 100 metres by lunchtime, and that some Perth-themed shirts and posters had sold out by 1 p.m.
Where and when the Perth pop-up opened
The shop was in Murray Street Mall and opened on Friday, 31 October 2025, ahead of Metallica’s Saturday, 1 November concert at Optus Stadium. PerthNow’s advance listing gave historical hours of 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on 31 October and 1 November, then 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on 2 November. These were event dates and hours, not an ongoing store schedule. PerthNow’s preview announced the pop-up, while the City of Perth listing also records the concert date and Murray Street Mall event context.
The pop-up was part of the buildup to Metallica’s 2025 Australia and New Zealand stadium leg. The band’s October 2024 tour announcement listed six shows across the two countries, including Perth.
A long queue and early sellouts
PerthNow reported that hundreds of people came to the shop, with fans travelling from around Australia and overseas. Its account said the queue began as early as 5 a.m. and was still close to 100 metres long by lunchtime. Those are the publication’s reported crowd and queue observations, not independently measured totals.
#1 Best Overall
- Regular Fit
- High quality print
- Officially licensed merchandise
By 1 p.m., some Perth-themed shirts and posters had sold out, according to PerthNow. That describes stock at that point on the opening day; the reports do not establish later availability or whether the designs were subsequently sold elsewhere.
What merchandise was on offer
The reported selection mixed Perth-specific items with broader tour and band merchandise. The Music’s preview described the planned range as including:
Rank #2
- Official Metallica merchandise
- Classic fit
- Seamless double needle 7/8" collar
- Taped neck and shoulders to provide durability
- Preshrunk jersey knit
- A black, red and white splatter-vinyl edition of 72 Seasons.
- A screen-printed poster and T-shirt designed by Fremantle-based artist Ken Taylor.
- A skateboard designed by Luke Preece.
- Perth-show patches, classic shirts, accessories and other tour merchandise.
PerthNow reported that Taylor was at the shop and that purchasers of M72 Fan Cards could enter to win an artwork. That was a promotion tied to the 2025 event, not an active offer today.
The Perth-themed designs were the items specifically reported sold out by early afternoon. The available accounts do not identify the full quantities or provide a later inventory, so they cannot establish what remained in stock after that report.

- T-Shirt with the following features:
- T-Shirt || Standard Sleeves || Round Neck Collarless || Printed on Front

Fans came for more than the merchandise
The pop-up drew fans with different journeys to the Perth show. PerthNow reported that Ryan Copsinis had tickets to every Australian date and that Thomas Kanara had travelled from New Zealand.
Jade Martin told PerthNow she was looking forward to seeing Metallica live for the first time: “I was 16 when they were here last, my parents wouldn’t let me go, so I’m geared up,” she said, “it’s finally time”. Her comment captures one attendee’s anticipation rather than a statement on behalf of the band.
Rank #4
- Licensed Music T-shirt
- Brand New Never Been Worn Merchandise
- 100% Cotton Short Sleeve T-Shirt
- High Quality Manufactured Apparel T-shirt

The pop-up was separate from stadium merchandise
The Murray Street Mall shop was a city-centre destination before the concert, not the only place to buy tour merchandise. Optus Stadium’s Metallica concert FAQ said official tour merchandise could also be purchased from authorised sellers inside the stadium and in Stadium Park. The sources do not establish whether any of the Perth-exclusive pop-up designs were available from those venue sellers.
