The nickname came from a repeated phrase in a video about face powder; the content’s warmth and personality helped it stick.
Who is Bota Pó?
Alexia Brito is a Brazilian influencer from Bacabal, a municipality in the state of Maranhão. She is known online as Bota Pó. Her videos and interviews present more than a beauty persona: humor, distinctive expressions, clothing and everyday moments all form part of the identity her audience came to recognize.
Later coverage identifies Alexia as a trans woman and describes her public account of understanding herself. In a 2022 interview with Imirante, she connected discomfort at school when others used her earlier masculine name with that self-understanding, and described coming out as a natural process. This is biographical context, not a separate spectacle or a reason to reduce her work to a single story.
How did the name Bota Pó begin?
The name comes from the makeup tutorials Alexia made early in her online career. In an interview with UOL Universa, she recalled filming in her home’s yard and using a lot of face powder. One video in which she repeated “bota pó, bota pó” — roughly, “put on powder” — went viral, and the phrase became her nickname.

“Eu comecei a fazer os vídeos no quintal da minha casa e botava muito pó [na maquiagem]. Um vídeo em que eu falava ‘bota pó, bota pó’, acabou viralizando”.
Alexia has also described makeup as personally meaningful, saying it helped her discover the person she felt she was and became part of the woman she grew into. That makes the powder reference more than a catchy label: it points back to the format and self-expression that first brought her visibility.

From makeup tutorials to humor and fashion
Makeup was an entry point, not a boundary. Reporting on Alexia’s videos describes humor and catchphrases alongside beauty content; later profiles also highlight fashion choices and daily-life posts. Her public image took shape through that combination rather than through a single viral clip.
In a 2022 profile, Alexia said she wanted to bring people joy, show her life and the way she dresses, and share her love for her grandmother. She framed those elements together as what made her Bota Pó. Her family and home life appear in the coverage as part of her ordinary setting and relationships, not as an invitation to treat living conditions as entertainment.

How her audience and public profile grew
Accounts of Alexia’s rise point to a gradual social-media presence. O Imparcial reported in June 2021 that she had started using social media in 2017 and continued after an early account was removed. The outlet reported more than 230,000 Instagram followers in June 2021. Later publications recorded larger audience snapshots, but the figures refer to different dates and should not be treated as a current count.

Interviews and a Maranhão education campaign
Alexia’s visibility extended beyond social platforms. TV Mirante featured her in an interview in April 2022, and Gshow later presented her on the podcast page “Sou Capaz de Opinar.” Imirante reported that the Maranhão government invited her to appear in a campaign for an education platform. ANTRA’s 2022 report, Dossiê Assassinatos e violências contra travestis e transexuais brasileiras em 2021, also mentions her in connection with that campaign.
These accounts establish a past campaign appearance and broader public recognition in Maranhão. They do not, on their own, establish current representation, active brand partnerships or current social accounts.

Alexia’s public story links a specific creative origin to a wider persona: a makeup phrase became a memorable name, while humor, fashion and personal details made the creator behind it recognizable. Her own descriptions of makeup and self-expression add another layer to that account.
