What prompted the controversy?
A photo of Fox at a Super Bowl after-party circulated online on February 11, 2024, alongside comments questioning her appearance. In a brighter image posted around February 14–15, Fox addressed the reaction with a self-deprecating caption. Contemporary reports reproduced her words, beginning: “Oh my god guys look how different i…dont look at all.” She went on to say the earlier image was a shadowy phone picture of her looking like a “Ukrainian blowup doll,” then contrasted that with “one of those super expensive silicone real sex dolls you can only get in Japan.” Fox News reproduced the caption, as did The Independent.
Her apparent point was that the unflattering photo did not reflect how she looked in reality. The comparison also invoked Ukrainian women and a sexualized doll stereotype, which is why some readers objected to the wording rather than simply treating it as a joke about an awkward photograph.
Why did some commenters object?
Some commenters described the reference as distasteful or xenophobic. Fox News quoted one commenter saying: “Come to Ukraine and see what Ukrainian women are, who we are and what are we going through – daily.” That was an individual commenter’s reaction, not a statement from an official Ukrainian representative or evidence that all Ukrainian fans shared the same view.

Coverage in The Independent also described criticism over the wording. The distinction matters: Fox’s caption framed the joke as a response to a bad photo, while critics focused on the national and sexualized comparison it used.
Was the caption deleted because of the backlash?
That has not been established by the available reporting. February coverage discussed the caption and criticism, but does not verify when the specific post was removed or show that backlash prompted its removal. A later Lead Stories fact check published September 23, 2024 reported that Fox’s Instagram posts had already been deleted and that she had not posted there since May. That account-level update does not identify the date or reason this particular February post disappeared.

CinemaBlend later reported that Fox wiped her Instagram in December 2024 amid separate breakup- and pregnancy-related news. That retrospective account describes a later event; it does not establish what happened to the February caption. The available sources therefore support describing the post as no longer available in later account-wide reporting, not saying that backlash caused its deletion.
