How Kylie Jenner found Ariel Tejada
Tejada’s account of the beginning comes from an August 5, 2015 Allure interview. He recalled that Jenner discovered his work on Instagram and sent him a message about working together when he was in Los Angeles. The account is Tejada’s recollection of a private exchange, rather than a public record of the messages themselves.
That origin story is also a reminder of how social media can connect a makeup artist’s work with potential clients: Jenner had seen Tejada’s makeup online before they met professionally. The available interviews do not establish a full timeline of his career or a complete current client roster.
How the two describe their creative relationship
In a 2022 conversation published by Interview Magazine, Tejada and Jenner reflected on how their collaboration took shape. Tejada said Jenner taught him how she liked makeup applied to her, while he brought his own professional knowledge to the work. Tejada described their shared brow technique, blush and under-eye looks as elements that became recognizable through their work together. Rather than crediting one person with every choice, his account presents the looks as a joint development. He calls the result “our glam.”
From practicing on family to working with a client
In the same conversation, Tejada recalled practicing makeup first on his cousin and later on a mannequin head. Those details offer a glimpse of his early learning, but the interview does not provide a complete biography or a comprehensive account of his training.

What Tejada has said about brushes and technique
Tejada designed a Morphe brush collection, discussed in an Allure interview published May 13, 2021. The article described two brush sets and reported Tejada’s explanations of how particular tools were intended to be used. That is historical coverage of the collaboration; it does not establish whether the sets are still being made or are currently available.
Tejada emphasized how brush texture can affect application: “Brushes make or break your makeup look… because if you’re using brushes that are a little too prickly or stiff, they tend to move the product that you’ve already placed on the skin.”

A Glamour UK interview published September 9, 2026 reports Tejada naming several products he gravitates toward. These are his interview comments, not independent product reviews or tests. He singled out Bobbi Brown Hydrating Face Cream as a skin-prep favorite, saying, “I’m obsessed with Bobbi Brown’s Hydrating Face Cream (the one with the black lid) – it’s a non-negotiable for me. It makes the concealer sit so much better.”

The same Glamour UK interview reports Tejada describing his aesthetic as “Nineties glam expensive.” In another Glamour UK interview, whose publication date is not established in the available citation, he reflected on technique: “But then I realized that less is more and that it’s more about technique versus how much product you’re applying.” The comments are useful context for how he frames his approach, not a guarantee that every look or product choice follows a single formula.

Taken together, the interviews document an Instagram introduction as Tejada recalled it, a collaborative working style described by both Jenner and Tejada, and a brush collection designed by Tejada. They do not establish the precise terms of his present-day work with Jenner, a complete current client list, or whether the Morphe collection remains in production. Those details should not be inferred from older collaboration coverage.
