No current official announcement confirming new Sailor Moon Happy Meal toys was found. A fan-maintained catalog does record a past promotion: Sailor Moon Sailor Stars dolls in McDonald’s Japan Happy Meals in 1996. That historical listing is not evidence of a new release, and the claim that Sailor Moon is the “longest-running magical girl anime” is not established by the available sources.
Has McDonald’s announced new Sailor Moon Happy Meal toys?
No official McDonald’s or franchise announcement confirming a new promotion was found. The available information does not establish a launch market, dates, lineup, stock terms, or whether any toys would be selectable or randomized.
McDonald’s Japan does publish dated Happy Meal announcements: its newsroom, for example, posted a separate Doraemon promotion on March 13, 2026. That notice concerns Doraemon, not Sailor Moon, and does not confirm the claim in this headline. McDonald’s Japan newsroom announcement.
Were Sailor Moon toys ever in McDonald’s Happy Meals?
A fan-maintained Kids Meal Wiki catalog records Sailor Moon Sailor Stars dolls as a McDonald’s Japan Happy Meal promotion in 1996. This is secondary, community-maintained evidence rather than confirmation from McDonald’s or Toei, so the careful description is that the catalog records the promotion—not that a current release has been verified. A separate user-editable Kids Meal Wiki list indexes Sailor Moon-related McDonald’s Japan toy promotions across 1992–1996. It can provide historical leads, but its editable nature means it should not be treated as definitive proof on its own. Kids Meal Wiki: McDonald’s Happy Meal (Japan) toy list.

Is Sailor Moon the longest-running magical girl anime?
The sources available here do not verify that superlative. “Longest-running” needs a defined basis—such as continuous broadcast, number of episodes, or franchise span—and a reliable comparison across series. Without that evidence, it is better not to describe Sailor Moon as the longest-running magical girl anime.

A reliable announcement should identify the country or market, the promotion’s start and end dates, the toys included, whether customers can choose them or receive them at random, and any stock or purchase conditions. Until an official McDonald’s or franchise source provides those details, the 1996 catalog entry is the only specific Happy Meal toy record established here; it does not show that the toys are currently available.
