PerthNow reported that police found a small fold-up knife on a 19-year-old outside Optus Stadium before Metallica’s Saturday concert in Perth. The item was seized and destroyed, and no charges were laid, according to the report. It does not explain why.
What happened outside Optus Stadium?
Before Metallica’s concert, police conducted what they described as “proactive edged weapons scanning” outside the venue. PerthNow reported on 4 November 2025 that officers found a small fold-up knife on a 19-year-old man. An unnamed police spokeswoman told the publication, “The item was seized and destroyed.” PerthNow’s report is the source for these details; no separate official police release is cited there.
Why were no charges laid?
The report says no charges were laid, but gives no reason. It does not identify a possible offence, describe the circumstances or the man’s intent, or provide a later court or police update. The available account therefore does not establish why police took that charging decision.
What else did PerthNow report about the concert?
PerthNow described the show as Metallica’s first Western Australian gig in 12 years and reported an attendance of 60,000. It said police were also supporting venue operations and responding to other incidents. The article separately reported that two men from the South West were charged after being caught climbing the stadium’s central tower; it did not state the charge names or later court outcomes. That separate incident does not explain the outcome in the knife case.
