Meghan Markle’s remark about “how many tears I’ve shed” came during a conversation about the unseen strain of building and supplying her lifestyle brand, As Ever. She made it in a June 3, 2025 bonus episode of her Lemonada podcast Confessions of a Female Founder, speaking with entrepreneur Tina Knowles. The headline paraphrases the exchange; it is not a complete verbatim sentence from the transcript.
What did Meghan Markle say?
In Lemonada’s transcript, Markle says: “It’s a part they see all the flashy stuff and they see the product but, that end game. I think you’re right, those behind the scenes moments. How many tears I’ve shed?” The line follows a discussion of the work and uncertainty behind a product launch. The transcript attributes the words to Markle, though its punctuation and grammar are reproduced as published.

What was the conversation about?
Markle was discussing As Ever, her lifestyle brand, with Knowles, founder of the hair-care brand Cécred. Markle said As Ever had planned for a year before its products sold out in 45 minutes. That figure is Markle’s account in the podcast, not an independently audited sales statistic.
The two discussed what to do after a rapid sellout: replenish quickly and risk another shortage, or pause while the business became more stable. Markle said she chose to pause until the business had what it needed. Her comment about tears referred to this kind of behind-the-scenes pressure, rather than a separate incident.
