She also thanked people who had asked whether she was okay, saying: “I am fine. Not amazing but doing ok. And so thankful for so much.” These are the words reproduced by PerthNow from her reported post and video, not an interview with the outlet.
How the family’s loss unfolded
7NEWS reported on 21 September 2020 that Jason Gale, 49, had been reported missing on 17 July. On 21 July, he was found in bushland south-east of Perth, according to a separate 7NEWS report citing police. Police said his death was not being treated as suspicious and that a report would be prepared for the Coroner. The cited reports do not establish a cause of death or a final coronial finding.

Travelling for the funeral and grieving in public
Gale spoke about leaving her partner and children in Melbourne to attend Jason’s funeral in Perth. She also described the difficulty of processing grief while in the public eye, a context that helps explain why posting again felt unfamiliar to her. Reports described her Instagram video differently: 7NEWS called it 12 minutes, while PerthNow called it 13. The reports therefore do not support a single uncontested duration.

On 29 September 2020, PerthNow reported that Gale had announced the closure of her skincare business, The Mindful Life. That was a later development, separate from her September comments about her brother and her grief.
