In April 2026, Marvel Studios executive Brad Winderbaum said he had seen the first episode’s animatic. In August, writer-director Seth Kearsley reportedly said he had joined the season’s team. Those are meaningful signs of work underway, not a public premiere announcement.
Is Marvel Zombies Season 2 confirmed?
The clearest answer is that Season 2 appears to be in active development, but the reviewed public Disney+ and Marvel listings still show Season 1 only. In an April 6, 2026 report, SuperHeroHype said Winderbaum had seen the first episode’s animatic. The report also noted Marvel had not formally announced a second season at that time.

Winderbaum’s comment is evidence of substantial creative progress: an animatic is a visual planning version of an episode, rather than a finished episode or a release notice. As quoted by SuperHeroHype, he said: “I saw the first animatic of the first episode of Marvel Zombies Season 2 this morning. It was crazy. I can’t say anything about it, but it delivers not just on zombies but also on an MCU thing that has never really happened before that we’re very excited to do.”
A later report adds a staffing signal. Bleeding Cool reported in August 2026 that writer, director, and producer Seth Kearsley had joined the creative team, based on a social post dated August 13. Kearsley wrote: “Just confirmed, I can say what I’m working on and nothing more. Marvel fucking Zombies!!! Couldn’t be more excited. Career full circle moment with The Maxx and Mummies Alive. No holds barred martial arts and gore.” This is a report about Kearsley’s post, not a Marvel press release.

When will Season 2 come out?
No release date is established in the available official listings or the cited updates. Disney+ currently catalogs Marvel Zombies as a 2025 series with one season, while Marvel’s television page lists Season 1 without a Season 2 entry. The catalog status describes what is publicly listed; it does not negate the development signals above.
Winderbaum’s remarks do not reveal a schedule. He teased an unprecedented MCU element in the first episode, but did not identify it, and neither the release timing nor Season 2’s episode count has been announced in the cited material.

What is known about the original season?
Season 1 is a four-episode, TV-MA event series set in the dystopian world introduced in What If…? Disney describes it as not being a direct continuation of that show’s Season 1 cliffhanger. Its official synopsis reads: “After the Avengers are overtaken by a zombie plague, a desperate group of survivors discover the key to bringing an end to the super-powered undead, racing across a dystopian landscape and risking life and limb to save their world.”
Brad Winderbaum, identified by Disney as Head of Marvel Television and Marvel Animation, said the series “stands alone as an epic adventure set inside a greater lore.” He added: “You don’t need to know the lore to enjoy it; you’ll get what you need from just watching this one story, which makes it inviting. You can come to it completely blind… and still get it.”

Disney+’s catalog page lists the show with four Season 1 episodes and a TV-MA rating. Marvel’s television page likewise lists Marvel Zombies | Season 1 (2025). Neither page currently supplies Season 2 availability information.
