During a couples retreat in Byron Bay on the 2024 Australian season of Married at First Sight, Michael Felix said he felt hurt and betrayed after Stephen Stewart described a flirtatious interaction with a hairdresser as a sexual spark. The episode recap was published on 4 March 2024; it is not a current relationship update.
What happened at the couples retreat?
PerthNow’s 4 March 2024 recap says Michael saw Stephen flirting with a hairdresser while Stephen was having his hair done. Michael later noticed Stephen texting and smiling during their ride back. Stephen acknowledged that he had messaged the hairdresser and described the encounter as a brief spark.
In a quotation reproduced by INTO, Stephen characterized the interaction this way: “Absolutely, we had a spark there. It was playful and a little bit flirty, 150 per cent.” INTO also quoted Michael recalling: “We had a publicity shoot, and Stephen was getting his hair done and I could see my husband flirting with the hairdresser.” These are quotations reported by the outlets, not independently verified against an official transcript.
Why did Michael say he felt betrayed?
The recap says Michael described the incident as a “massive emotional cheat,” said he felt hurt and betrayed, removed his wedding ring and left the room. Those words express Michael’s reaction and framing in the episode; the reporting does not establish an independent finding of infidelity.
