Nintendo’s official synopsis says Princess Peach’s birthday party sets off a galactic adventure, sending Mario and Luigi into space to stop Bowser Jr. and save Rosalina. The film’s scheduled release dates have passed: Nintendo listed April 1, 2026, for the United States and many other markets, and April 24 for Japan.
What is The Super Mario Galaxy Movie about?
Nintendo’s official movie page describes a story that begins with Princess Peach’s birthday party and expands into a galactic adventure. Mario and Luigi go into space to stop Bowser Jr. and save Rosalina. That is the confirmed premise; it does not establish further plot details or explain exactly how the brothers reach space.
Which trailer is Nintendo referring to?
Nintendo’s movie page labels its final trailer as part of “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Direct 3.9.2026.” Nintendo’s corporate announcement, dated March 10, 2026, says the final trailer was revealed during that day’s Direct. That is separate from the original official trailer, which Nintendo published on YouTube on November 12, 2025.
The March 9 movie Direct was promotional rather than a game announcement: Nintendo’s page says, “Please note that no game information will be included in this presentation.”
