Mantis is a 2025 Korean action film on Netflix about three elite contract killers competing for power in a hired-killer industry whose old rules have fallen apart. It premiered exclusively on Netflix on September 26, 2025, and is a spin-off set in the same universe as Kill Boksoon.
What is Mantis about?
Han-ul, known as Mantis, returns to the contract-killer business after a long hiatus and finds its organization in disarray. He crosses paths with Jae-yi, his former fellow trainee and rival, and Dok-go, a retired, legendary killer who once mentored him. Netflix’s announcement says Han-ul and Jae-yi start a new company as mistrust and rivalries complicate their partnership, while Dok-go returns to stake a claim in the organization.

Is Mantis connected to Kill Boksoon?
Yes. Netflix identifies Mantis as a spin-off set in the same hired-killer universe as its 2023 film Kill Boksoon. The films focus on different characters: Mantis follows Han-ul, Jae-yi, and Dok-go, while Kill Boksoon centers on Gil Boksoon. The available official descriptions establish a shared universe, not a direct sequel.
