Rodney Foster is identified as a co-founder of Edelheiss Wine, but the available sources do not establish that he is worth “a small fortune.” They also offer only limited, dated evidence about the wine: a 2021 feature reported a favorable tasting of three Edelheiss wines, including a sweet spiced red suited to warming, but it is not enough to judge current bottles or vintages confidently.
What is Rodney Foster’s connection to Edelheiss?
Edelheiss’s company story names Rodney E. Foster and Reemt Peters as founders and says Foster’s interest in Glühwein helped inspire the brand. That is the company’s own account, rather than an independent corporate filing: Edelheiss’s company story.
A 2015 Black Enterprise profile also calls Foster a co-founder. It describes Edelheiss as a German-imported spiced red wine and reports that Foster’s taste of Glühwein while traveling led him to make wine at home and develop a brand. Foster told the publication, “Once I tried it I knew that this was something that I wanted to share with people in the United States.”
Is Rodney Foster worth a small fortune?
That claim is not substantiated by the available evidence. The reviewed sources do not document Foster’s personal assets or liabilities, establish Edelheiss’s value, or provide a defensible estimate of his net worth. A company’s existence and a founder’s business activity do not, on their own, show how much that person is worth.

- Sourced from American Vineyards
- This medium-bodied, smooth Cabernet Sauvignon has vibrant notes of blackberry fruit, hints of vanilla and oak, and a lingering finish.
- Pair this round Cabernet Sauvignon with oven fired pizza, pasta Bolognese, or portabello mushroom burgers.
- 100% Cabernet Sauvignon
- Serve between 55-65 degrees Fahrenheit
A December 2020 Blast report says Foster was planning a hemp-infused vodka line, but it provides no reliable financial data. The sources therefore support describing Foster as a wine entrepreneur and reporting that he had other business plans—not assigning him a fortune or a dollar figure.
What kind of wine is Edelheiss?
A September 2021 BroadwayWorld feature listed four wines in the brand’s lineup at that time. Its descriptions give a sense of the range, but they are historical, not confirmation of a current catalog.

| Wine listed in 2021 | Description or suggested use in the feature |
|---|---|
| Edelheiss Red | Sweet and spiced; the feature said it could be served slightly chilled or warmed as mulled wine. |
| Sparkling White | Listed as a sparkling option; the article presented the sparkling wines as choices for aperitif or celebration. |
| Sparkling Rosé | Listed as a sparkling option; the article presented the sparkling wines as choices for aperitif or celebration. |
| Riesling | Listed as a food-pairing option. |
The same feature reported that the wines were sourced from Germany’s Pfalz region and presented as 100% organically certified. Those are claims reported by the article; the underlying origin and certification documentation was not independently verified here.
But is Edelheiss any good?
The most supportable answer is: one located tasting account was positive, but the evidence is too limited to make a broad or current quality verdict. The BroadwayWorld writer said they sampled three Edelheiss wines and offered favorable general descriptions. For the red, the sweet, spiced profile and warming suggestion point toward a particular use—mulled-wine service—rather than a dry, restrained red-wine style.

That account does not provide enough detailed tasting notes or a recognizable independent critic’s score to establish that Edelheiss is objectively excellent. Nor does one feature from 2021 settle the quality of bottles sold now, across vintages. No current bottling, vintage, price, or independent tasting record was verified in the available sources.

- A slow, temperature controlled fermentation is undertaken and after a short period of yeast lees contact, the wine is racked for final blending, then bottled young to ensure that the fresh, crisp and elegant varietal characters are retained.

For readers drawn to the brand by Foster’s story, the distinction is important: Edelheiss’s founding and historical product descriptions are documented, but neither a present-day “small fortune” nor a definitive verdict on today’s wine follows from that record.
