On February 28, 2022, Randi Zuckerberg posted a Web3-themed parody of Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It,” changing its refrain to “we’re all gonna make it”—the crypto-community slogan abbreviated WAGMI. She described the video as a “rallying cry for the women of web3.” The headline’s “skin-crawlingly horrible” is an aesthetic judgment, not an attributed quote or a measured consensus.

What song did Randi Zuckerberg parody?

Zuckerberg’s video reworked Twisted Sister’s 1980s rock anthem “We’re Not Gonna Take It” with crypto and Web3 references. Contemporary coverage described the central switch as “we’re all gonna make it,” using WAGMI, a phrase crypto communities use to express confidence in eventual success. Other reported lyrical references included DYOR (“do your own research”) and “carpe the crypto diem.” indy100’s March 4, 2022 coverage and The Brag’s account describe the parody and its lyrics.

Why did she make it?

Zuckerberg presented the recording as encouragement for women in Web3. Dubway Studios, which described the recording session, reproduced her February 28 post: “A decade ago, I sang this song on Broadway. Today I sing this song, surrounded by new friends, as a rallying cry for the women of web3. Together, we can accomplish anything. And have fun doing it!” Dubway’s account provides the studio context and the post’s wording.

The video’s stated purpose was celebratory; its creative device was to fit crypto jargon into a familiar rock refrain. Whether that worked as music or comedy is a matter of taste. The available reporting does not establish that the video was sponsored, that Zuckerberg was compensated, or that it promoted a particular crypto company.

Why did Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider object?

NME reported that Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider said he had not authorized the cover and quoted his negative reaction to it. That is a reported objection, not a court finding about copyright or a legal ruling on the recording. The coverage cited here does not establish the legal status of the video or what happened afterward. NME’s March 4, 2022 report recounts Snider’s response.

#1 Best Overall

Was it her only crypto parody?

No. Reports from February 2022 identify an earlier crypto-themed parody of Adele’s “Hello.” The Twisted Sister video was described as her second such parody that month. Web3 Is Going Great’s February 28 entry describes the second video, while Gizmodo’s February 18 report covers the earlier Adele parody.

What the story does—and does not—show

This is a 2022 culture story about a crypto-themed parody and the reaction it drew, not a current crypto announcement. The cited reports establish Zuckerberg’s stated aim, the song she reworked, and Snider’s reported objection. They do not provide a sourced measure of audience reaction, so the headline’s insult should be read as opinion rather than proof that listeners broadly agreed.
