What was Martha Stewart’s 2024 return?
The 2024 appearance was an anniversary return, not a new cover debut. Stewart joined former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover models for the brand’s 60th-anniversary Legends feature. The official gallery labels the set “Martha Stewart 2024: 60th Anniversary Legends.”
MarthaStewart.com published its feature on May 14, 2024, and reported that the issue was scheduled to reach newsstands on May 17. Its account describes a collectible trilogy of covers. In the feature, editor-in-chief MJ Day explained the broader cover package: “In the past, we’d have one cover model representing the supposed epitome of beauty at the time. But today there are seven covers featuring 27 women, all of whom have helped shape a world in which they feel more represented and more empowered than ever before,”

The official Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2024 gallery contains Stewart’s anniversary images and the shoot credits. The group image was one of the 2024 covers, according to MarthaStewart.com’s feature. These are photographs from the 2024 issue, not a current 2026 shoot.

What did she wear in the 2024 shoot?
The 2024 gallery credits Stewart’s gown to Jenny Packham, her shoes to Britt Netta, and her jewelry to Charlie Lapson. The gallery also lists Molly Dickson for styling, DJ Quintero for hair, Adam Burrell for makeup, and Julie Kandalec and Christina Aude at Start Touch Agency for nails. These are image credits, not confirmation that the items are currently available.
The anniversary shoot’s celebratory group-fashion styling differs from the swimwear-focused 2023 gallery. Keep the years distinct when looking through the images: the 2023 credits include swimwear from Isa Boulder, Body Glove, Eres, Norma Kamali, Zimmermann, Monday Swimwear, Yves Saint Laurent, and Anemos, among other image-specific credits. Those labels do not describe Stewart’s 2024 gown.

In its 2024 gallery, SI Swimsuit says Stewart appeared on its cover at age 81 in 2023 and describes her as the oldest woman to appear on an SI Swimsuit cover at that time. That is a time-specific description from the publication; it does not establish the current status of the record.

Stewart described her understanding of a legend in the May 14, 2024 MarthaStewart.com feature: “A legend, to me, means something that’s happened before and has gained an importance and lives on.” The anniversary setting brought that idea into the issue through a group of former cover models. In the same feature, Stewart recalled her reaction to her 2023 cover: “When I heard that I was going to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, I thought, ‘Oh, that’s pretty good, I’m going to be the oldest person I think ever on a cover of Sports Illustrated,’”
