How Old Are You marked her return after a 15-year break
Warrier returned to the Malayalam film industry in 2014 with How Old Are You, after a 15-year break, as the Scroll interview framed her career. Asked how it had felt to come back, she spoke in the context of a career that had resumed with the film.

Five years later, the March 2019 interview found her discussing Lucifer, then due to open on March 28. The distinction matters: How Old Are You was the 2014 return; Lucifer was the film she was promoting at the time of the interview.
Why she says she is a director’s actor
Warrier described her acting approach plainly: “I’m a director’s actor. I try my best to deliver what the director wants.” She said she follows the director’s script and lead, placing the director’s vision at the centre of her performance.

How she thinks about accepting a role
When a new director narrates a script, Warrier said she asks herself whether she would want to watch the film in a theatre: “When a new director narrates the script to me, I just think about if I would want to go to the theatre to watch that film.” Her stated test connects choosing a role to the appeal of the film as a whole, rather than describing a checklist of career or commercial considerations.
Audience response matters more than awards
Asked whether commercial success or winning an award mattered more, Warrier said the response from viewers was most important to her: “What matters to me most is the audience’s response to the film and to my role in it.” She characterized awards as encouragement, while emphasizing how audiences receive both the film and her performance.

What she said about meaningful characters and Lucifer
A separate interview with The Indian Express, published on March 30, 2019, adds context after Lucifer’s scheduled opening. Warrier said the film was receiving a positive response and discussed her preference for characters with importance—roles that leave a mark on the audience.
In that interview she also expressed a wish to work with Mammootty: “It is my dream to do a film with Mammookka.” These remarks complement the Scroll conversation: Warrier’s stated priorities were both the director’s vision and the potential for a character to matter to viewers.
