Reports have described Mackenzie Dern and Antonio Trocoli’s relationship as apparently over, but neither was reported to have publicly confirmed a breakup. Trocoli’s October 2024 arrest followed an allegation by Dern’s ex-husband, Wesley Santos; Trocoli’s attorney denied that Trocoli hit or threatened him. The arrest was not a finding of guilt, and the available reporting does not establish the case’s eventual legal outcome.
Did Mackenzie Dern and Antonio Trocoli break up?
EssentiallySports described the relationship as apparently over in an October 25, 2025 report, citing social-media changes and other reporting. The article also noted that neither Dern nor Trocoli had directly commented on their relationship status. That makes the split a reported inference, not a confirmed announcement. EssentiallySports’ report
Why was Trocoli arrested?
MMA Fighting reported on October 9, 2024, that Huntington Beach police confirmed Trocoli’s arrest on October 4 at approximately 8:30 a.m. The police statement described the charge as misdemeanor battery and said the case had been sent to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office for review. The DA’s office told MMA Fighting it had not yet decided whether to file a case because its review was ongoing at that time. MMA Fighting’s report
An arrest is not proof of guilt. The reporting available here does not establish whether prosecutors later filed charges or whether the matter ended in a conviction, dismissal, or another disposition.

What did Santos allege, and how did Trocoli respond?
The accounts reported about the encounter differ. Santos and Trocoli’s attorney each made statements about what happened; neither account should be treated as a judicial finding.
| Who | What was reported | Status of the statement |
|---|---|---|
| Wesley Santos, Dern’s ex-husband | Santos alleged that Trocoli got out of a car and punched him after Santos had dropped off his daughter. He also alleged a history of threats around custody exchanges. | Allegations attributed to Santos, as reported by MMA Fighting; not an adjudicated finding. |
| Trocoli’s attorney | The attorney denied that Trocoli hit or threatened anyone and said Trocoli approached Santos to calm a situation that had escalated. | Defense account reported by UOL / Ag Fight; not an adjudicated finding. |
| Huntington Beach police | Police confirmed an arrest for misdemeanor battery and said the case was sent to the Orange County DA for review. | Official procedural update quoted by MMA Fighting; not a verdict. |
UOL / Ag Fight quoted the attorney in Portuguese: “Antônio não bateu ou ameaçou ninguém” (“Antônio did not hit or threaten anyone”). That is the attorney’s denial, not an established finding.
