The account had offered personalized videos for a reported starting price of $250, but available reporting does not establish that she completed bookings, earned money, or why she deactivated it.
What happened with Lauren Boebert’s Cameo account?
Contemporaneous reports say Boebert joined Cameo over the weekend of November 23–24, 2024, offering personalized video messages such as greetings and pep talks. By Monday, November 25, the account had been deactivated amid questions about whether paid messages could conflict with House rules. Colorado Politics reported that the listing price was $250 and up. That was an advertised asking price, not evidence of completed orders or income.

The Daily Beast and The Independent also reported on the brief account and the ethics questions it raised. None of these accounts establishes a personal explanation from Boebert for taking it down.
Why did the account prompt ethics questions?
The House Ethics Committee’s guidance says Members may not receive honoraria. It defines an honorarium as “a payment of money or a thing of value for an appearance, speech, or article.” The Committee’s outside-employment FAQs describe paid social media influencing as “a type of honorarium” for Members and senior staff. Those rules explain why a service offering paid personalized videos drew scrutiny.

That framework is not the same as a finding that Boebert violated House rules. The sources available do not document a Committee ruling applying its guidance to her Cameo account.

House guidance prohibits Members from receiving honoraria, and the Committee characterizes paid social media influencing as a type of honorarium for Members and senior staff. That makes paid personalized-video work a rules question for a Member, rather than evidence that every particular service or account has been formally reviewed. The Committee advises Members, officers, and employees to consult it about outside employment and related restrictions; its Outside Employment page provides the official starting point.
