También afirmó que dos jueces no puntuaron a la candidata venezolana. Esa última afirmación es la versión de Sousa, no un hecho corroborado por el registro oficial disponible: Miss Universe reconoce a Torres como ganadora de 1993.
Qué dijo Osmel Sousa sobre Dayanara Torres
En el segmento El Horno, de En casa con Telemundo, Sousa cuestionó el resultado del certamen celebrado en 1993. Según la cita publicada por People en Español, dijo: «Dayanara me cae muy bien, pero le tengo cierta cosita porque el año que ella fue Miss Universo ganó por obra y gracia del Espíritu Santo, porque ahí la ganadora era Venezuela».
Sousa se refería a Milka Yelisava Chulina, representante de Venezuela, quien quedó en segundo lugar. El Nuevo Día informó el 19 de octubre de 2025 que Sousa habló de Torres y de otras ganadoras en el segmento. People en Español publicó sus declaraciones el 22 de octubre.
La acusación sobre las puntuaciones
Sousa sostuvo que dos jueces no marcaron puntuación cuando salió Venezuela: «Esos dos personajes cuando salió Venezuela no pulsaron el aparatico, no pusieron ni cero, ni uno, ni tres, nada», según la transcripción de People en Español. El medio presentó esto como la percepción de Sousa; las fuentes disponibles no documentan de manera independiente qué puntuó cada juez.

Quién ganó Miss Universo 1993
El archivo oficial de Miss Universe registra a Dayanara Yari Torres Delgado como la titular de 1993 y muestra como fecha «September 17, 1993». Esa ficha confirma quién fue reconocida como ganadora, pero no ofrece una tabla completa de resultados ni las puntuaciones individuales del jurado. Por ello, el registro no permite verificar la afirmación concreta de Sousa sobre los jueces.
Qué respondió Dayanara Torres
Torres contestó que respetaba las opiniones y defendió su recuerdo del certamen. El 24 de octubre de 2025, Univision publicó una pieza audiovisual de El Gordo y La Flaca sobre su reacción. People en Español publicó una transcripción más amplia el 27 de octubre.

«Todo el mundo tiene su opinión y las opiniones se respetan», dijo Torres. También recordó que, según ella, las puntuaciones se mostraban por televisión en aquella época: «En ese momento, en los 90, se ponían la puntuaciones en la televisión, yo he sido jurado del Miss Universo tres veces, y en esos tiempos las puntuaciones se ponen en la televisión ves lo que dio cada uno, usen una calculadora y saquen los cálculos».
Sobre su triunfo, Torres describió su propia experiencia como una joven ajena al mundo de los certámenes, y sostuvo que al jurado le gustaron su frescura y naturalidad. Dijo que seguía orgullosa del papel que hizo y de haber representado a Puerto Rico: «¡Ese era el año de Puerto Rico!».

Qué está confirmado y qué sigue sin resolverse
- Confirmado: el archivo oficial de Miss Universe reconoce a Torres como titular de 1993.
- Atribuido a Sousa: que Chulina debió ganar y que dos jueces no la puntuaron. Las fuentes citadas no corroboran de forma independiente esa explicación.
- Respuesta de Torres: dijo que las puntuaciones eran televisadas y que estaba orgullosa de su desempeño y de representar a Puerto Rico.
- No establecido por el registro consultado: cómo puntuó individualmente cada juez. La ficha oficial disponible no incluye la planilla completa.
Así, el resultado oficial de Miss Universo 1993 no está en disputa en el archivo consultado; lo que permanece sin verificar es la explicación de Sousa sobre las puntuaciones individuales.
