Cómo se conocieron Carlos Ponce y Karina Banda
La historia comenzó el 14 de febrero de 2018 en una fiesta de San Valentín en casa de Lili Estefan, amiga en común que los presentó. Banda contó a People en Español que Ponce la había visto en fotos de redes sociales y le pidió a Estefan que los pusiera en contacto.
La presentación no se convirtió de inmediato en una cita. Su primer encuentro romántico fue el 28 de mayo de 2018. Según el relato de Banda, Ponce insistió en cortejarla hasta convencerla; en esa primera cita, ella sintió que él la flechó. Univision identifica esa fecha como la de su primera cita.
De la relación pública a una reconciliación
Agosto de 2018: el romance se hace público
En agosto de 2018, Ponce organizó una fiesta de cumpleaños para Banda y la relación se hizo oficial en Instagram, según la cronología de People en Español.

2019: una pausa y el regreso
En abril de 2019 anunciaron una separación amistosa. Banda la describió como una decisión mutua, sin peleas. Para junio de ese año habían retomado la relación, de acuerdo con los recuentos de People en Español y Univision.
El compromiso y los planes de boda
Ponce le propuso matrimonio a Banda el 1 de enero de 2020, durante unas vacaciones en México. En febrero visitaron Valle de Bravo y contemplaron celebrar la boda el 11 de octubre de ese año. La pandemia alteró esos planes y la celebración familiar tuvo que esperar, según la entrevista que Banda concedió a People en Español.

Dos bodas: civil en 2020 y religiosa en 2022

La pareja ya estaba casada por lo civil cuando celebró la ceremonia religiosa. Univision confirma que la boda civil se celebró en Florida el 30 de julio de 2020, con las hijas de Ponce como testigos.
La ceremonia de Valle de Bravo
La ceremonia religiosa tuvo lugar en un bosque de Boscoso Hotel Boutique. Banda explicó a People en Español que querían algo íntimo y significativo: “Queríamos una ceremonia pequeña y muy significativa, en donde pudiéramos intercambiar nuestros votos”. Hubo votos, lecturas y música de violines y arpas.

El encuentro también permitió que sus familias, que no se conocían plenamente, compartieran la ocasión. “Esta boda fue muy especial para Carlos y para mí porque además de que es nuestra unión, se están conociendo nuestras familias”, dijo Banda. Sobre Ponce, añadió: “Lo amo. La paz que me da [es única], Carlos trae paz a mi vida”.
