Krypto gets another standout moment in the full trailer for James Gunn’s Superman: after rescuing an injured Superman in the December 2024 teaser, the Superdog confronts Lex Luthor and the Engineer at the Fortress of Solitude. The trailer then closes on a gentler image, with Krypto resting on Superman’s chest.
What Krypto does in the full trailer
The trailer opens with Lois Lane sitting down for a mock interview with “Superman,” while Clark Kent takes the hero’s part. The footage then moves through action involving villains and a kaiju, alongside appearances by Green Lantern, Hawkgirl and Mister Terrific. But Krypto is the recurring comic and emotional presence.
At the Fortress of Solitude, Lex Luthor and Angela Spica, known as the Engineer, invade—and Krypto takes them on. The trailer’s final image shifts from that confrontation to a quiet bedroom scene: Superman is lying down, with a contented Krypto on his chest. Jennifer Ouellette described those scenes in her May 14, 2025, Ars Technica trailer coverage.
Why the headline says “again”
Krypto had already claimed the spotlight in the December 2024 teaser. There, Superman is badly injured in a snowy landscape, whistles for Krypto and asks him to take him home; the dog drags him to safety. Penguin Random House Comics Retail also singled out Krypto in its December 20, 2024 teaser coverage.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The two trailers give Krypto different jobs. The teaser makes him Superman’s rescuer; the full trailer shows him facing danger himself, then ends with him close to Superman in a domestic moment. That sequence—from rescue, to action, to affection—is why Krypto’s prominence feels like a running thread rather than a single gag.
Does Lois know Clark is Superman?
The interview framing does not settle the question. Ouellette reads it as suggesting Lois does not yet know Clark’s secret identity, while noting that other outlets interpreted the footage the other way. The trailer is carefully edited enough to support competing readings; it does not confirm either one as plot fact.
