The network announced the date on October 27, 2025; Comcast’s later SEC filing records the rebrand as effective in November 2025.
When did MSNBC change its name to MS NOW?
The change was scheduled for the morning of November 15, 2025. In a staff memo reproduced by TheWrap on October 27, 2025, MS NOW President Rebecca Kutler wrote: “On the morning of Nov. 15, we will officially make the switch to MS NOW.” The announcement therefore came before the effective date.
What does MS NOW stand for?
Comcast’s SEC-filed information statement renders the name as “My Source News Opinion World (MS NOW).” NBC News Group’s help page uses a slightly different expansion: “My Source for News, Opinion, and the World.” The wording varies between the two sources, so the name is best referred to simply as MS NOW.
Why did the network rebrand?
The rebrand accompanied Comcast’s separation of its cable networks and related platforms into Versant. Comcast said a distinct identity would underscore the network’s mission as a destination for domestic and international breaking news and opinion journalism. The filing describes the transition as extending beyond the network to related platforms and products.

What audience figures are available?
Comcast’s 2025 SEC-filed information statement reports several figures for the former MSNBC brand. They are historical measures, not evidence of current post-rebrand reach.
- More than 14 million weekly viewers in 2024: Comcast cited Nielsen for this weekly audience figure.
- 30 million monthly unique visitors in 2024: Reported in Comcast’s filing.
- Nearly 160 million total audio-portfolio downloads: Reported in the filing for the period it covers; it should not be read as an annual or current download count.
